There are bigger issues for retirees and near-retirees to worry about than Social Security’s funding shortfall.

To stave off the angry emails that this comment may elicit, let me stressthat I am not excusing our politicians’ refusal to come up with a solution. Itis shameful that they would be willing to risk having the government renegeon its decades-long promise to retirees. And it’s irresponsible for them towait until the last minute to come up with a solution, as it becomes costlierthe longer that they do so.
