Yer a father, Harry!
Daniel Radcliffe, the actor best known for playing boy wizard Harry Potter in the film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s coming-of-age fantasy novels, is expecting his first child with longtime girlfriend Erin Darke.
A representative for Radcliffe confirmed the news with media outlets including The Hollywood Reporter and Buzzfeed.
Radcliffe and Darke met on the set of 2013’s Kill Your Darlings, where he played poet Allen Ginsberg and she portrayed one of his paramours. Darke has also appeared in recurring roles on Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Radcliffe’s TBS series Miracle Workers.
Their due date hasn’t been revealed, and Radcliffe — who most recently played parody pop star Alfred Matthew “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story — doesn’t do social media. But some of his recent interviews give some insight into what he wishes for his future family.
And after being a movie star since he was 12, Radcliffe told Newsweek last year that, “I wouldn’t want fame for my kid.”
But he would like to introduce his child to the family business in a less obvious way. “I would love them to be around film sets,” he said. “Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids. But it’s really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs.”
Still, fame hasn’t been all bad for Radcliffe. The first eight Harry Potter films conjured $7.7 billion at the box office across the globe. And Radcliffe reportedly made $95.6 million from the Harry Potter franchise, which has granted him the luxury of taking on smaller roles and passion projects.

And those have won him some acclaim. Radcliffe recently scored a Critics Choice Award for best actor in a limited series or movie made for TV with Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
