The Wall Street Journal: Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner dies at 58, days after announcing medical leave

Hasbro Inc. Chief Executive Brian Goldner has died, the toy maker said Tuesday, just days after he took a leave of absence for medical care.

He was 58.

The global toy, game and entertainment company previously didn’t specify the medical condition but pointed to Goldner’s disclosure in August 2020 that he was undergoing continued treatment that might cause hair loss. He was treated for prostate cancer in 2014.

“As a charismatic and passionate leader in both the play and entertainment industries, Brian’s work brought joy and laughter to children and families around the world,” Rich Stoddart, interim CEO at Hasbro, said in a statement. “His visionary leadership, kindness, and generosity made him beloved by the Hasbro community and everyone he touched. On behalf of the Hasbro family, we extend our deepest, heartfelt condolences to his wife, daughter, and entire family.”
